First impressions count. If you invite a lot of potential clients into your office to do business, then the building itself could make or break that business deal before you have even started to pitch your business. Here are four ways to impress potential clients on a visit to your office building.

Parking Lot

A potential client will start to assess your building as soon as they drive into the parking lot.  If it looks overgrown, untidy, and is full of loose paving slabs, they will assume that your business is going to be shabby and uncared for too.  They may take their business elsewhere before they even get out of the car.

Hire a gardener to spend some time cutting back hedges and fixing loose slabs and your parking lot can be made to look impressive in a matter of hours.  The gardener will have to maintain their work, but this shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours per month, so it won’t cost much.

Reception Area

Entering a dirty reception area to be greeted by an empty reception desk and an ‘out of order’ sign on the elevator door is going to impress nobody.  Your potential client will be exiting on arrival, taking care to wipe their feet on their way out.

Maintenance can be time-consuming, but it consists of tasks that are easy to outsource, which means that you don’t have to worry about them yourself.

Using a company such as ATIS for your elevator service will make sure that it is kept in good working order, while a regular cleaning contractor can add the ‘wow factor’ to your reception area and office space.

Good Reception Staff

Reception staff make a huge difference to the first impression of your potential client.  Make sure there is someone to greet your client as they arrive; you could even do this yourself to offer a personal touch.  This will ensure that your potential client makes it through the reception area to your office and you can start your meeting.

Great Coffee

Great coffee tastes good but it can be used as a sales tool too.  Once your potential client is sitting in your office and has accepted a cup of coffee you can begin your pitch.  If you take a while to warm up or it isn’t immediately obvious what you can do for your audience, the potential client could thank you for your time and walk away.

However, if they have a great cup of coffee in front of them, they are far more likely to give you their time so that they can finish their fantastic coffee.  This gives you more time to sell your idea to them and they are more likely to do business with you.

These small touches could make a big difference to the profitability of your business, and it doesn’t need to cost a lot of money to put these tips into place.  Try these ideas for yourself and see how much difference it makes to your company.
