Cheech & Chong love weed, and they love comedy, so I’d argue they never made a bad film; however, I’ll say their best effort is Nice Dreams. It perfectly captures everything we loved about these guys back in their heyday. And it never fails to put me into a happy mood after a stressful day at work.
Still Smokin’
A tribute to Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong’s legendary stoner duo. Every comedy has an origin story. And if you’ve ever wants to see how two of Hollywood’s most legendary comedians got their start. Then Still Smokin’ is a must-see. The film follows Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong through their early live performances at The Troubadour nightclub in Los Angeles. They explain how they came together to create one of America’s most iconic duos.
While their jokes aren’t quite ready yet (remember these are relatively early on). It doesn’t make watching these two legends any less entertaining. It’s pretty amazing to see them perform, as it only makes you wish that they had released more material together. If you’re a fan of Cheech & Chong or simply just looking for something new to watch while you get high. Then check out Still Smokin’. It might be cheesy, but its significance can’t be understated.
Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie
Try watching Cheech and Chong’s Next Movie (1980) if you like your comedy stoner-centric. The cult classic follows Richard Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong on a trip to Amsterdam after Tommy offered to sing at a local jazz club. But things get complicated when Cheech realizes. That he hires as an assassin by a crime lord who has mistaken him for someone else. Of course, that doesn’t stop him from indulging his passion. Cannabis He meets up with an old friend, and things get crazy quickly.
As you might expect, everything goes downhill fast once they hit Amsterdam. This movie is full of hilarious scenes with plenty of cannabis-related humor to keep you entertained during your munchies session! Plus, it has cameos from other famous weed enthusiasts like Willie Nelson and Peter Sellers. These are a few reasons why it’s one of our favorites. There are so many different movies that star together, but we’ll focus on some of their best films here.
Get Out of My Room
Suppose you’re looking to watch all of Cheech and Chong’s stoner comedies back-to-back. Then Get Out of My Room is a perfect place to start. The stoner duo attempt to spend a weekend in complete seclusion. They wait out a snowstorm but only end up inviting themselves over to their neighbor’s house. Oh, and everyone smokes pot throughout. It’s also one of their better movies, so it makes sense that you should see it first before watching as many Cheech and Chong movies. As possible (and not just because your bong might be lonely).
Unfortunately, there isn’t much substance here at an hour-long and with no extras or special features. It is still a movie about smoking weed), so if you want more than that, then seek out one. Their other movies instead. Although if more than that means watching people smoke weed, then go ahead; it certainly won’t be worse than anything else you could watch right now. Just don’t light yourself on fire, please.
Cheech & Chong’s Animated Movie
There are two animate Cheech and Chong movies to consider. The first one is titled Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie. Shown initially as a TV special on HBO before release on VHS. Two decades later, Cheech Marin directed another movie (with some help from Tommy Chong) that was released straight to DVD under Cheech and Chong: Still Smokin. In both films, you’ll hear new audio recordings of Messrs. Marin and Chong and appearances by other comedians like Tommy Davidson, Dave Chappelle, George Lopez, and Jeffrey Ross. If you have kids who love watching The Lion King or Shrek, now might be a good time to check out these old-school favorites. It never hurts to expose them to the quality stoner-friendly cinema early.
Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers
It was hard to start when discussing how silly Cheech and Chong movies are. The title alone—The Corsican Brothers—is already such a stupid joke that it doesn’t need much explanation. It’s just there to set you up and make you laugh before you even get into what precisely The Corsican Brothers is. The movie takes its plot from Dumas’ novel of the same name but was made with stoners in mind. If you’ve seen any other cheech and chongs movies in order, then you know to expect lots of silliness and laughing at everything, which makes The Corsican Brothers an excellent choice if you have munchies. Because eating seems like a lot more fun when you are stoned, this isn’t an actual answer to why it’s good for munchies. I just thought I’d say something about them because everyone knows who they are now that weed is legal in so many places.
Things Are Tough All Over
If you’re a fan of cannabis culture and cinema, you’ll know that lots of laughs have from Cheech and Chong movies. While they aren’t top-tier movies by any means (they’re kind of hit or miss), they are pretty funny when you’re trying to get through a munchies attack. Unfortunately, there isn’t a comprehensive list out there detailing all their feature films—until now. In movies Things Are Tough All Over, we see how two straight-laced brothers named Tommy and Pedro end up becoming stoners after experimenting with marijuana at a party. This is what happens in every Cheech & Chong movie: The protagonists do something stupid like smoke weed at school, get kicked out of school, smoke weed again to escape boredom and feel relaxed afterward – so on and so forth until Cheech & Chong enter the scene.
Cheech & Chong: Roasted
In 1977, Cheech and Chong released their feature-length directorial debut. Roasted is a reasonably straightforward comedy about two stoners hired to work at a restaurant that caters to celebrity clientele. Doesn’t take long before they find themselves embroiled in criminal schemes and drug dealing with murderous villains. While it not exactly loaded with laugh-out-loud moments, it is as funny as you’d expect a movie starring Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong to be. Worth watching. (And probably my favorite of all of their films.) A year after Roasted was released, Cheech and Chong returned with Next Movie. The film does a great job at fleshing out some of the characters from their first outing; Jim Belushi also joins them as an aspiring actor looking to make it big alongside Eddie Bunker, who later became known as Scorpio on America’s Most Wanted.
