Where to download free music for Instagram for free?
If it’s very important to you that your video is guaranteed not to be deleted – add copyright-free music to your video. For example, this channel on YouTube often publishes such music. You can download it, and all the music is free (there are links in the video description). That’s where we use the songs on our channel.
There’s also a library of free music in the video editing apps and Storis.
How to add music to your Instagram videos in Storis and posts (photos and video)
The easiest way to insert music into a photo or video is to play music on your phone or computer while recording. But the sound quality will not be very good. And the video itself can get blocked on Instagram because of copyright.
And even if you bought the song officially (from iTunes, for example) and not just downloaded it for free, it will still be blocked. Because you’re buying it for personal listening. And the rights to use it in public videos cost a lot more.
Putting music on photos, videos and Storis is easy with video editing apps: Videoleap (iPhone) and InShot (iPhone and Android).
Enlight Videoleap app: how to insert music into photos and videos (iPhone)
With this app, you can add music to your photos, videos, and Stories for free. Or directly in the app to record a voiceover on top.
First, you upload the desired photo or video. Then you have four options for laying down music:
- Click the red plsick at the end of the video and download the desired audio file on your phone.
- If you have a Mac, you can download the song on your computer and then send it to your phone via Airdrop. If you have the video you want open in Videoleap at the same time, you will be able to add to that video immediately via Airdrop.
- Press the “Audio” button. Then select “Music” or “Sound Effects”. You will choose from a library of copyright-free music and sound effects.
- Press the “Voice” button. After the red round button and start talking, the recording will start.
It is recommended to insert music on photos and videos in posts and Storis only without copyrights. This is a guarantee that Instagram won’t block you for copyright infringement. But if you have a small personal account, closed and you’re sure that no one will complain about you (in case someone out of resentment wants to get you blocked) – there is a way to make sure that Instagram will not recognize a popular track. Quickly buy followers to your instagram account at https://lowcostsmm.com/buy-instagram-followers-cheap/. Take advantage of this opportunity to make your profile popular.
In Videoleap, click on the desired audio track (or on a video that has sound). Then click “Audio” and then “Change Tone”. That way Instagram algorithms won’t recognize the original music and won’t block it for copyright infringement. But if someone suddenly complains, it will be a human being who will check.

Add music to photos, videos, and Stories in Instagram is more complicated than in Tik Tok, for example. You need to download copyright-free music, overlay it in a separate application and only then upload it to your Account. But still you can make a post or Storis with music for free and not be afraid that you will be blocked if you upload photos and videos with music to your account.
How to add through an image editor
Programs like After Effects create animated storis, which artists and bloggers often use to introduce a new single or album. The visual part is created first, and then the music is superimposed, all of which is published in the storis as a normal video or photo.
Then all that’s left to do is add a link to the track for download. Artists usually offer their albums and tracks on Apple Music, iTunes or Spotify.
If you don’t know which site to place on, ask your subscribers about it – choose the most popular one. If the user doesn’t have the right app, Instagram will notify them:
Important! To post an external link to your albums and music, you need to have an account of 10,000 or more followers. But the Music sticker allows you to share your track with your subscribers, if you have an account of the artist in the Spotify database.
You can also use Canva to make a cover for a song. You can’t overlay music in Canva, but you can do it with any video editor from the app store, such as InShot or VivaVideo, which we talked about a bit above.
By the way, with SMMplanner’s built-in Story Editor, you can easily create cool templates for your storis with Canva. Pro rate holders can now publish videos directly from the Story Editor with the right stickers.
How to add via screen recording
First, turn on the music. Open the desired photo or video, wait for the right moment in the song, and turn on screen recording.
How to go to record:
- In iOS: Settings → Controls → Customize controls → Screen recording.
- In Android: The location and availability of the function depends on the manufacturer.
You can edit or crop your video with SMMplanner’s built-in Story Editor on the paid rate – the first 7 days are completely free.
When editing videos, don’t forget about the limitations of storis:
For photos:
- Format: 9:16.
- Size: 1080×1920 and vertical orientation.
For videos:
- File format: .MOV, .MP4 or .GIF.
- Resolution: 720p or higher.
- Recommended aspect ratio: 9:16.
- Duration: 15 seconds.
- File size: up to 2.3 GB.
Earlier this year, Instagram removed restrictions on the size and position of videos and photos. If the image is smaller than the recommended format, the app will automatically add margins.
