A three-cour series from studio White Fox. Re: Zero is an anime that follows Subaru Natsuki after killing and being brought back to life in a fantasy world. It base on a series of light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki with illustrations by Shinichirou Otsuka. The story was first published as Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint. And it adapts into manga form and has become very popular internationally since its inception. If you haven’t watched it yet, you should check it out!
The Story from zero comes everything. Subaru Natsuki has been sent back to a past world – remade and given new opportunities by a cryptic being known as Ruin. Confused but determined, he sets about meeting new allies and companions – one such being Emilia, who appears to be connected with Subaru’s previous self. They both work together toward becoming stronger so they can eventually survive the looming dangers that seek them out.
About Re Zero Season 3:
The story so far, ReZero, is one of the most popular light novel series right now. It’s a beautiful and twisted romance with some mind-blowing plot twists at every turn. The synopsis for Re: Zero tells us that Subaru Natsuki dies in an accident but soon returns to life thanks to an ability called Reset. However, it comes with conditions he has to fulfil each time he’s resurrected from death. From what we know so far, Re: Zero will most likely only have one season (don’t worry, there will be plenty of more seasons in other mediums).
There’s no re zero season 3 release date yet. But we can expect it to premiere sometime in 2022. But before that happens, here are 5 things you should know about! 1. A new studio in 2021, Kadokawa, announce that they sign a deal with Shin Oonuma (director of Another) to produce two anime adaptations: Re: Zero and DAYS. This news came as quite a surprise since it was previously report that Tappei Nagatsuki was looking into creating his animation studio to direct all future re zero anime adaptations himself.

At anime Expo, Tappei Nagatsuki announced that season three of Re: Zero -Starting Life in Another World- would begin airing in 2022. While he didn’t give an exact date, we know it will be sometime between April and September of next year. That’s a reasonably big window, and we don’t have any accurate details about will re zero have a season 3 to go on.
Such as whether it will air weekly or if we’ll get more than one episode per month. But it’s still good news. At least we know there will be new episodes to look forward to. What’s going to happen? Nothing is for sure until those first few minutes play out on screen. But it based on how things ended in season two, there are plenty of places for things to go. Subaru Natsuki can’t return home yet (he doesn’t die), so he may head further north through Lugunica toward Roswaal Manor. His path could also cross with Julius Juukulius (Hiroki Kaji) since that was introduced as a potential future event back during volume five.
Possible Characters in Re Zero Season 3:
The main thing fans are clamouring for from season three is returning to our favourite characters. Specifically: Wilhelm van Astrea and Betelgeuse Romanee-Conti. Neither of these characters appears in season two (though we hear about them briefly). The third arc of Re: Zero has been teased to revolve around these two villains and their master, Pride.
Fans have responded with equal parts Holy and Where do I sign up? Already we’re giddy at the possibility of seeing more fangirl/fanboy moments between Rem and Subaru. The prospect of Ram finally getting revenge on Betelgeuse is so satisfying that it’s hard not to squeal in delight at all of it already. And when you throw Puck into the mix? Even more, tears will be shed. Though there’s no official confirmation yet, look for season three to bring these four back into complete focus. They’re likely just as important as Emilia or even Beatrice—no pressure.
Trailers and Speculation:
The reveal of the re zero third season come as something of a surprise, considering that Rem’s Wedding Arc still hasn’t been animated. The good news is that fans will be getting more content soon; on Sunday morning at Anime Japan, Kadokawa announce that production start work on season three. While there is no premiere date yet. And it will probably be in 2022 at least before we get to see anything. The new season promises to adapt Arc 7 and 8 in total. That means an exciting return for Rom and Ram, as well as Subaru’s infiltration into Algol’s base and his confrontation with Betelgeuse Romanee-Conti. We’ll have to wait until April, when episode 24 breaths of air in Japan, for any hints about what’s next. But hopefully, we’ll get enough spoilers between now and then to tide us over!
The End of Return by Death? After numerous retcons throughout re zero season two, including changes to Natsuki’s memories (make her happy). And another timeline where Rem could avoid a fatal injury from Felix Argyle. These past few episodes have shown us one thing clearly: Subaru has lost nearly all of his Return by Death abilities. He can’t even use them mid-battle anymore because he always blacked out afterwards.
Returning Cast Updates:
At Anime Expo, it reveals that Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will be reprising his role as Subaru. While it was widely believed that he would be returning. And confirmation of his casting will a surprise. At the same event, it also announce that Ai Kayano (animate Yuzuru Otonashi in Angel Beats!) is joining as Puck. Additional voice actors have not been announced at the time of writing; stay tuned for updates! At long last, we now know when Re: Zero’s second season will air. At an event celebrating Fantastic Fest held. And an English version trailer release with more news and our first glimpse of new footage.
Is re-zero over?
After re-zero s2 ended with a significant cliffhanger, fans were confused if re zero season 3 was ever coming out. The second season wrapped up in such a way that it seemed like there was no way to continue it (it’s safe to say that death isn’t a good place to end a story). However, author tappei nagatsuki has come forward and said he plans on writing an s3. This is excellent news for fans of anime and light novels alike! Stay tuned for updates about what we know so far about when we can expect to see more.
There are two parts of your question here: is re zero over, and when will it return? The short answer to both questions is yes, season 3 re zero should happen soon enough! When? That part gets tricky because there have been many conflicting reports regarding when you can expect more episodes. At the same time, Nagatsuki originally wanted more episodes ready. That estimate doesn’t seem realistic at all, at least given what we know right now (that means next Spring looks most likely). Still, even then, that would mean the first episode—you don’t get 12 new episodes just because you release one.
