Perhaps you’ve been working with multi-monitor setups for years? Then again, perhaps you’re new to the whole 6 monitor setup? Either way, ask a professional for the top computers in the industry to make sure that your monitors are powered properly. From there, it’s relatively easy to choose the right panels for your needs.

Choosing your Panels for Trading with a 6 Monitor Setup

Any decision involves weighing up the pros and cons and at the end of the day, it’s a personal choice. Then again, there are some standard questions to ask yourself when designing your 6 monitor setup, as follows:

  • Curved or flat screen
  • Size and resolution
  • Features
  • Ergonomics
  • Mounts

Curved or flat screen

One of the first questions you might face when installing your 6 monitor setup is whether you want flat or curved screens. To give you an example, many gamers go for an ultra-wide curved screen because then they can see the whole picture without any breaks. They also get a more immersive experience. Traders, on the other hand, don’t necessarily need this when working on multi-monitor setups. In fact, the norm is to opt for flat screens and to build up to two, three, or even 6 monitors. Furthermore, the breaks in between the screens act as natural dividers for the charts they run.

Size and resolution

The most common choice for a multi-monitor setup is a 23-inch screen. That’s because it’s a good balance between resolution and price. At this stage, it can be helpful to know that there are three industry standards of LCD panel types. These are TN, VA, and IPS, in increasing resolution. Then again, most people who use multi-monitor setups go for the lower end of the range TN panels. That’s because, again, they are perfectly good enough resolution for their price range.

Features

There are clearly other features that might or might not be important to you when designing your multiple monitor setup. These include refresh rates, anti-glare, flicker-free, and choice of ports, to give you some examples. As you can imagine, there’s no perfect combination and you’ll need to first work out your budget. Everything follows on naturally from there.

Ergonomics

People often forget that they need to be both comfortable and safe for the long run. Ergonomics should be an important consideration so that you make sure to choose a multi-monitor setup that stops you from straining your neck and shoulders. Everyone is different but thinking about ergonomics will impact the size of the screens and layouts that you apply to your two, three, or 6 monitor setup.

Mounts

Naturally, the mounts are an important aspect of ergonomics too. It’s worth mentioning them separately because you can have very different layouts when it comes to multi-monitor setups. Again, the choice is very personal though. So, have a think about whether you prefer vertical or horizontal positioning. Also, what about installing your multi-monitor setup as a grid or as a line of screens? Then again, adjustable mounts make a huge difference to how comfortable you can be at your multi-monitor setup.

What Equipment do you Need to Support your 6 Monitor Setup?

Whilst monitors are important, it’s worth mentioning the equipment you need to actually make your multiple monitor work, as follows:

  • Processing Power
  • Graphics card
  • Cables

Processing Power

It doesn’t matter if you prefer a laptop over a desktop or even Windows 10 over Mac. These days, you can make everything work for your 6 monitor setup. Nevertheless, you have to make sure that you have enough CPU power and RAM speed. A good approach is to have at least 2.6GHz or closer to 3.8GHz processing power with Intel or AMD if you can afford it. In terms of RAM, 16GB can be enough but if you want extra speed then go for 32GB.

Graphics cards

It’s important to check the specification of your integrated graphics cards or video card. These actually power up your charts and graphics and make sure they refresh quickly and effectively. If you want reliable and cost-effective then usually Radeon and NVIDIA are the more recommended. Again, in terms of power, you can expect 4GB or even 6GB for the best 6 monitor setup experience.

Cables

Of course, you’ll need cables and it’s just simply a question of knowing what DisplayPort you’re working with, including how to connect to your power supply. The industry norms for ports these days for multi-monitor setups are VGA, HDMI, DVI, and USB types. Different monitor brands might have different ones so perhaps research the make and model you want first so that you can avoid having too many different cables.

Key Takeaways for Choosing Panels for Trading with a 6 Monitor Setup

Trading with a multi-monitor setup is very efficient because you can track many data sources at once. It’s a great way to stay on top of your game without flicking through too many screens. Simply make sure you choose panels that offer good resolution whilst being cost-effective. Then, play around with your adjustable mounts and get the perfect 6 monitor setup that is both awesome and ergonomically sound. You’ll be a better trader for it.
