Players are hyped for the release of the third front in the Elder God Wars, but before that, they ought to check out some of the other cool stuff that Jagex has for them first.
RuneScape and its older brother, Old School RuneScape, are in the best state that they’ve ever been to date. With the Elder God Wars continuing to their third front with Croesus, Jagex has decided to add a bit more content to keep the players who are waiting for the release of the boss at bay. Helping fill the time is always a good thing since it means new stuff to do for the folks besides grinding and farming RuneScape gold. While there are a few things that Jagex added in, the most interesting ones include the new Prime Aura and the collab between RuneScape and SteelSeries. Oh, and there’s also a new pet that players get in the Marketplace. So what’re all those things about? Let’s find out.
More XP Boosts Thanks to Prime Aura
As a part of a new Twitch Prime collaboration even between Jagex and the mega-popular streaming popular, Prime Aura is the next reward that players can get if they have a Twitch Prime membership. A collaboration between the two isn’t anything new. There have already been a few instances before where Twitch and RuneScape or OSRS would give players incentives by being active on their platforms such as giving them exclusive RuneScape items or bags of RuneScape gold for free. So long as players have an active Twitch Prime membership, RuneScape players can redeem the new aura. But before anything else, it should be worth noting that this is only available until October 19, so act fast if you’re planning to get it.
To sum up what Auras are in RuneScape, they’re items that provide miscellaneous boosts to certain activities that players do while playing the game. Auras typically last only up to an hour or so and they have extended cooldowns, limiting the number of times that players can use them for a day. The difference between the usual Auras and the Prime Aura is that it’s a boosting Aura for all of one’s skilling needs.
How Prime Aura Works in RuneScape
When a Prime Aura is active, it provides players a flat 10% experience boost for all of the skills in RuneScape. The Prime Auras lasts for 30 minutes and has a cooldown of 24 hours and 30 minutes. Looking at it, that’s quite a long cooldown considering the short amount of time the Prime Aura is active, but it’s better than nothing. Players who can make it in time before October 19 will also receive 20 Treasure Hunter Keys and 400 RuneCoins which can be used in the Treasure Hunter mini-game as well as Solomon’s Store in the game.
Now, this isn’t the first time that there’s a bit of controversy involved when it comes to RuneScape allowing boosting microtransactions in the form of collabs. Many players aren’t necessarily happy with this and are doubtful that the inclusion of Prime Auras will be received positively by the community.
The SteelSeries Collab
Guess what? More free goodies! RuneScape has teamed up together with SteelSeries, a brand that’s known for selling gaming peripherals, to give away a couple of stylish in-game cosmetic items! The goodies come in the form of a Battleworn Steel Armor and a Currency Pack filled with the shining, shimmering, splendid stuff that all RuneScape players love: gold. The best part about all this is that you don’t have to purchase or own a SteelSeries product to get them. Just simply go to the SteelSeries website to grab a key and redeem the free stuff on RuneScape’s official website.
A New Desert Pet
Ever wanted a pet that’s more on the “I’ll eat your face” side? Luckily for you, there’s a not-so-cuddly creature that recently just made its way to The Marketplace. Meet Saul, the Desert Wyrm. He typically enjoys showing off his shiny scales and flying through the skies of Gielinor, but during his spare time, he loves scaring the daylights out of the sheep around the area. Costing around 433 RuneCoins for F2P players and 390 for members, Saul is the perfect pet for those that are looking for a terrifying little monster.
Conclusion
With the forthcoming of the third boss in the Elder God Wars, there’s at least a lot of content that players can get through first before the arrival of Croesus. Plus, the free stuff from the SteelSeries collab like the bag of RuneScape gold helps too. While the Prime Auras aren’t accessible for everyone, it’s there for Twitch Prime members to take advantage of. What do you think of the state of RuneScape so far?
