Furnishing a newly bought apartment is a very exciting process. From sofas to tables, every little thing has its own role in building your home. All these elements come together and finally form the place that you call home.
One such essential element is curtains and draperies that cover the eyes of your home; windows.
Choosing The Right Draperies And Curtains
Windows are possibly one of the most diverse areas in your house where you can showcase your style. There are different types of draperies and curtains available for windows depending on the interior design of your home. If you’re going for a royal look then a pleated curtain is going to look exquisite with your royal furniture and if you’re looking to cover the windows in your living room then maybe a more relaxed stitch fabric or drapes can do the job. The whole process of choosing the right types of draperies and curtains becomes even more difficult when you have loads of windows. This means that all the more sunlight in your apartment and even more windows to cover. Especially finding the right color for each room can be a very challenging task.
So we came up with our favorite colors of curtains and drapes for a sunny house!
1. White
White is the go-to color for any room in any house no matter what the light situation is. The versatility in white color is what makes it ideal for any room, you can go for a creamier shade of white if a sharp white color does not stop the sunlight from coming in when you don’t want it. The best part about using white is that it will go with any color, whether your sofas are black, pink, or blue, white curtains will be their best friend. They will do a very fine job in reflecting the sunlight making the room look more airy and spacious.
2. Light Blue
Have you ever looked at the sky and saw how perfectly everything goes together? Well, who hasn’t? In an apartment with lots of sunlight, light blue curtains and draperies can work well. While the sunlight is creating all the drama in the house they will just exist in peace beautifully blending in with the room. This color is good for any room but especially bedrooms where such color combinations can easily survive. In a baby’s room, you can pair this up with pastel yellow shades. If this is in your kitchen try a printed drape with a light background it would be perfect to add a retro vibe!
3. Black
This suggestion may not be widely accepted and appreciated but if you’re someone like me who likes to stay comfy and cozy, a dark room is a way to go! Some people just don’t like their apartments blooming with light all day long so when you’re done with light and want to really put a stop to it just bring down your black curtains. To prevent any extra light from peeking through you can add sn blocking cotton cloth to the back of your curtain and maintain the darkness of your room at your convenience.
4. Yellow
No, we are not asking you to put bright yellow drapes in your living room (what’s the harm though?) but pastel hues of yellow are too gorgeous to be ignored like that. Sometimes in a too-sunny room, there’s no way to block the sunlight and the only way forward is embracing the light with open arms. Yellow is that one color which will indefinitely compliment the sunlight and reflect it and make your room look even more lively. If you have a yellow curtain, for the blinds you can choose a white-colored net and make it look fancy yet equally convenient.
5. Green
You might be thinking by now that we have embarked upon a journey of making your house look like a rainbow but these colors are built for those light and airy rooms. Again going for dark green would be a little foolish but light green colors can look really nice in a room full of light. The comfort that green brings to your eyes is unmatched; however, it would be little to pair it up with a lot of colors. You will have to choose your color palette for the room very wisely. Nonetheless, if all else fails just pair it up with white furniture!
Color contrasts can make or break the interior designing game of your space. Choosing the style and color of your draperies and curtains will contribute a lot towards the overall outlook of your space. So make sure you use the above mentioned guide to avoid making any blunders about your space.
